John Sheppard [userpic]

John is sitting in the kitchen, nursing a cup of coffee. He's spent a while watching the twins sleep. He knows Gilly would be ecstatic if he woke her up for snuggling, but he can't quite bring himself to do it. So instead he made coffee and has hidden out.

He feels weird, here. There's no echo of ocean, and everything is just...wrong.

He nods, quietly. "Okay."

He's still for a moment, then stands up, abandoning his coffee.

It's full.

"Maybe I should just go."

As soon as he says that--well. Donna is on her feet and practically climbing him. "I don't think so."

He wobbles a bit before catching his balance. "What the hell."

She leans against him. "I haven't seen you for weeks."

"I know that." His arms go around her. "Care to spend the night with me, my wife?"

"Mmmhmmm." It only takes the idea that he might leave again to get past uncertainty.

He tilts his head a bit to rest his forehead against hers, smiling. "Come on to bed, baby. We can talk there." He feels like they talk better all snuggled up in bed.

"Yeah." She leans against him for a moment. "Upstairs."

"Gonna have to show me the way. Haven't seen anything but the twins' room up there."

"C'mon." She tugs on him. "Jonathan and I have a bedroom and we put some of you and Elizabeth's stuff in another one."

"Smart. But still. Ow, baby." He follows along, keeping his arms firmly around her waist.

"Did Elizabeth tell you our official line about the triplets?"

"No. What are you telling people?"
