John Sheppard [userpic]

It is late when John pinpoints quietly into the London house, sneaking his way right to watch his babies sleep. He doesn't bother seeing anyone else in the house, if they're even awake, he doesn't know. He just stands between the babies cribs, watching them both  quietly. Gilly burbles in her sleep, whining quietly until he moves to adjust what is obviously one of his shirts in with her closer and she settles.

He takes his glasses off, rubbing his eyes with a sigh.

Comments

"John, they're not supposed to have to come and beg you for it."

He sighs. "Fuck. I know.... I know."

"I know you love Gilly. I do, too. But you have other children and they need to not be thinking that you don't care about them as much as Gilly. Nami doesn't bother trying to talk to you because she expects you to go right back to Gilly as soon as she starts screaming. It's not that they don't want your attention. It's that they don't think you're going to give it to them."

He makes a little face. "You know, I was talking to Izzy about how I'm turning into my father. And...I am. When do the kids start school? I'm going to make time and take the girls out and do something with the boys...."

"You're getting there," Donna says, bluntly. "If I thought you were beyond hope, though, I'd just cut your ass off." She's...not kidding. She knows how bad she can get without him, and she'd do that, for her kids. "They don't start until September. Gotta start with the new year. Nami's still kicking up a fuss about it, but she'll get over it."

"Okay. I will...talk to them tomorrow. Individually. Make some plans to go do whatever. I need to spend some time with Catherine, too...."

Donna kisses his nose. "Okay. Good."

He smiles and ruffles her hair. "See what happens when you're not always there to keep me in line?"

"Yeah, you turn into a giant moron."

"Exactly. All the more reason for me to come around more to get my dose of reason."

He kisses her head, hugging her tightly. "How goes finding something to do?"

"What's up with that?"

"Well, none of the kids are shy about demanding my attention, and Jonathan was still working constantly until today."

"So the next time I see you, you're going to be an accomplished...person with something to do, right?"

She huffs. "Maybe."

He kisses her head. "Yes."
